As a fashion Designer, my mind is thinking all the time regarding Fabrics,Designs,colour ,and Combinations but today I am curious about my labors??will they get right salary??and now i am researching on What is Fair Trade Labor practice In sustainable Fashion?
Sustainable or Ethical fashion offers a lot of hype by consuming organic cotton or recycled plastic bottles, and that’s great. But sustainability or ethical fashion without Fair Trade Labor practice is just like a house with a beautiful roof and no foundation. You can’t call a garment or fashion “eco-friendly” if the person or so called Labor who sewed it can’t afford to feed their family.
The term “FAIR TRADE LABOR PRACTICE “ensures that the worker or labor are safe in terms of living wages and affordable or reasonable hours in fashion supply chains. Sustainable brands emphasizes dignity over exploitation, which is totally opposite to fast fashion’s cost cutting tactics. These practices foster long term industry equity.
In my opinion, Fair labor practice forms the backbone of sustainable or ethical fashion, that allows workers to get ethical treatment amid growing demands for eco-friendly clothing. In this Article ,I shed some light on What is fair Trade practice.
